A quieter internet starts here.
Install NothingDNS, check your first answer, and make the network yours.
01. Choose your starting point
Install on Linux, macOS, or Windows, or build directly from source. The current source build requires Go 1.26.9+ and Make.
02. Meet your DNS server
After installation, check the binary and send a DNS query to your local server. Adjust the query port if your installation uses 5353.
nothingdns -version
dnsctl -version
# Ask your local DNS server
dig @127.0.0.1 example.com
# If the installer selected port 5353
dig @127.0.0.1 -p 5353 example.com03. Open the control center
The dashboard uses the HTTP listener, commonly at http://localhost:8080. If your installer has not created your admin account, bootstrap it from the server host. The command reads the password from stdin.
dnsctl server bootstrap --username admin04. Make it your own
Configure upstreams, add your authoritative zones, choose your policies, and connect monitoring. The example configuration is the starting point for the full schema.
